Numan may be an enigma to all but to his legion of devoted fans, but he
was the innovator of synth-pop back in 1979. Now 19 years on, and
after numerous musical style changes, Numan, in his current incarnation,
has developed a dark, brooding guitar sound. Numan hasn't discarded
his beloved synthesizers they're still present but the guitar now
has equal precedence. The sound may have changed, but there's no
mistaking Numan's distinctive vocals that has set him apart from everyone
else.
